SEO Tactics Revealed

Though there are many different theories out there regarding what makes the best SEO technique, when it comes to some issues that will work against your SEO efforts, there are some issues where everyone agrees. Among these, the most prominent are:

· Not having a web page title

· Using too many graphics, images, or flash animation on a given web page

· Having a menu system that is prohibitively complex

It is extremely important that every web page on your site has a title. Without providing a

descriptive title that is search engine optimization with the right keywords, you’ll not only hurt your ranking, but you’ll turn visitors away. Consider it the equivalent to owning a store without a sign and with blackened windows.

To make sure that you’re doing your best on that level, make certain that each web page on your

site has its own unique title that is specific to its content. Try to make sure that it includes the

primary keyword for that page, to ensure proper SEO for search engine spiders.

By using too many graphics, images, or flash animation, you may be pleasing the eye, but search engine spiders won’t see it the same way. Search engines focus on the text content of your

website. Their spiders crawl through your site looking for text, keywords, and other indications

of purpose.

They cannot, however, understand images or flash animations, nor will they ever understand their appeal. Therefore, though images are great ways to add appeal to your visitor’s adding too much to any given web page, you’re decreasing the value of your search engine optimization.

To reduce this problem, try to create a balance on your page where the text content is given the true priority, and images, graphics, and flash animations are only a compliment, not a focus for the page. You can also help your website by adding alt tags to each of your images so that you are providing the search engine spiders with a bit of text, even when it’s an image that

actually shows up on the page.

The menu system of your website is the key to being able to properly navigate around it. Search engine spiders are typically considered to be relatively basic programs and struggle with anything but the most primitive menu systems.

For example, if your menu involves JavaScript or a Java applet, the search engine spider will not be able to recognize any of the features, and will not be capable of properly navigating the site. Certainly, these can be very appealing to people, but search engine spiders don’t have the same ability to interpret the features of a website as people do.

For proper search engine optimization, a simple textual link is your best option as it is the

easiest for a search engine spider to understand. It makes your site much more likely to be seen in full by the spider, and therefore receive the best indexing and ranking results.

Furthermore, the majority of the time, an extremely complicated menu system can quickly be replicated and implemented using textual links and CSS. This will make an enormous difference in your SEO results, and will be welcomed by all of your visitors who are still using dial-up and other slow connections.

If you must use a complex menu or site navigation system, then make sure that you at least

provide a site map that is readily available via a text link from the home page. This site map

should use text to clearly link to every one of the other pages of your web site. This way, even if a spider is unable to use your regular menu system, it will be able to reach all of the pages by way of the site map.

Refraining from working against your own SEO efforts due to simple errors, and will enjoy

much larger amounts of traffic to your website.

Backlinks, The Backlinks Secrets Revealed

In essence backlinks should mean, referring to quality and relevant website links, preferably from higher ranking and highly relevant websites to your individual webpage’s, usually the websites landing webpage. Backlinks are sometimes referred to as inbound links to a website.

Backlinks from other websites to your website is used as a determining factor by the major search engines of how popular your website is. Each backlink to your websites is considered by the search engines as a popularity ‘vote’ and the more inbound website links to your website, the more popular and valuable your website becomes in the search engine rankings and this is confirmed in the higher page ranking attained.

Individual backlinks are not of equal status, as the major search engines have a hierarchy of values for different types of backlinks. But first of all inbound backlinks pointing to your website must belong to websites which are of a higher ranking to your website, this type of backlink will mean a positive increase in the hierarchy of values. Adversely, a backlink from a website with a lower page ranking than your website may undoubtedly reduce the page ranking of the receiving website.

Backlinks received from must be based on quality not quantity, the choice of whether a potential backlink website is suitable or not should be decided just to increase the quantity of backlinks. The quality and page ranking of the potential back-linking website must be the determining factor whether to accept or refuse the backlink.

Understand the importance of 10 high quality backlinks from high ranking websites is definitely more valuable than even a 1000 backlinks from poor website or even if you’re dubious whether the backlinks website contains illegal content – avoid these types of websites backlinks, unless you definitely know the websites are of high standing and the contents contain rich content. Even so, if the websites are of lower ranking than your website, then avoid them.

When all is said and done, ranking high in the major search engines means vastly increasing quality backlinks to your website, and every backlink from websites higher ranking, or even similar ranking levels, is important. Google especially, considers each backlink a ‘vote’ of popularity for the receiving website, so not so high quality backlinks will assist in gaining popularity and thus increased page ranking in the major search engines ranking algorithms.

In reality, highest quality backlinks are the hardest links to access; these are backlinks from older and well established domain websites, the backlinks from high page ranking websites, from well established official websites and again, from well established top ranked websites. These websites rank in the crème de la crème category of the top and highest ranking websites, possibly with many millions of backlinks.

The alternative approach with regard to initial backlink building, is to backlink to as many as possible of quality backlinks and build on the other less quality backlinks too, that is the lower page ranking websites and the easier lower quality websites, who tends to be desperate, link yourself, to increase their page ranking by accumulating backlinks. Remember, each and every quality backlink is a ‘vote’ for the websites popularity of the website, in essence, the more popular the website, the higher in the page ranking algorithms of the major search engines.

It is repeated by the SEO traditionalist to avoid backlinks to websites which have a ‘NoFollow’ code in their Meta Tags. Actually, Google and Yahoo generally ignore the ‘NoFollow’ instruction rule and Index the website, so if you have an opportunity to receive a quality backlink from a ‘NoFollow’ website, then I suggest you accept it.

An important point at this time to emphasise is that a backlink is not necessarily a reciprocating link – a reciprocating link is a link to and from an individual website. The major search engines base their popularity algorithms more on backlinks to your websites, and a website with more backlinks to the website than outgoing links. Websites will rank higher with more backlinks, than a website with more or as many outgoing links.

To work around this issue, is to create a website with a ‘Link to Us’ webpage, which will develop an html code for websites which wish to link to your website. Webmasters with a preference to link to you through this webpage, can ‘copy’ and paste’ the code into their webpage. You will now have the desired link and the relevant keywords you wish to use.

This ‘Link To Us’ webpage is a very effective way to increase major search engine page rankings, as the webpage is an individually popular webpage, rich with backlinks, but not on the websites landing webpage which needs to be used as the sales page, with an excellent Sales Copy to ‘force’ the targeted visitors to click on the Paypal button and become an important customer.

It’s imperative at this stage of the ebook that every backlink to your website, must without exception, be from websites which is related to the products or services sold or available on your website. All backlinks must be relevant to your website, if not the major search engines will penalise your website for irrelevant keywords or spamming.

Your website could even be banned for the infringement – although unlikely to be banned, possibly demoted in the page rankings, or reduced to ‘zero rating’ and thereby ‘dropped’ from the search engine listings altogether. Unfortunately, there is no way of appealing against the decision, even if you were aware of the major search engines actions.

On completion the newly created website and with the basic knowledge and understanding of backlinks, the next major task is to create/develop a search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. This campaign must be part of an effective website advertising, marketing and promotional drive, with the intention of elevating the unknown website, not only to be Indexed by the major search engines, but also highly ranked in the major search engines search results (SERP*) – at the very least, ranked in the first three search engine results pages for the given keywords.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an absolute requirement to elevate a non-existent, unknown – unknown to the Internet search engines, website to the highest ranking possible for the relevant websites keywords, which will allow the major search engines to direct searchers (SERP*) to the websites’ products or services provided. These search engine visitors is commonly referred to as targeted visitors, as they have shown an interest in the websites saleable products or services.

SERP* Search engine results page – these are search engine results pages that is displayed to the visitor, after the search engine visitor, inputs a search query into a search engine query box i.e. Google search results page. SERPs will usually show a listing of title and a short summary of how the webpage result is relevant or relative to the visitors search term – keyword and direct link to the relevant click-able website displayed.

The importance of targeted visitors to a website can not be emphasised enough, as they have shown an interest or a desire – possibly a distinct buying interest or desire, in buying the websites products or services. Even more important, is the fact that the targeted visitors were directed to the website by the major search engines with no cost the website owner – free targeted traffic, and extremely important when considering the targeted visitors possibly have an intention to buy the websites products.

My philosophy on making money on the Internet is as simple as ABC, start an Internet presence on a small scale initially, by acquiring high quality resell rights software – ebooks, website scripts, utilities etc, possibly free or very cheap – don’t gamble with your hard earned cash, as the realistic chances of successfully making money online in the first instant, is not in your favour, so then the failure need not be a financial loss.

Selling resell rights software on eBay you acquired for free, or at least for a few bucks  – as an example, you keep 100% of the profits, and with these profits accumulating, then and only then, use the profits to continue with the Internet business venture. If the initial business venture happens to fail – failure is a possibility at this initial stage by attempting to accomplish too much at this early stage – don’t run at high speed before you can crawl, then the financial loss to yourself is minimised.

Making money on the Internet should not be considered a short term goal, as newly created businesses – especially newly created websites, need time to mature – like a fine wine. The main priority is not to risk your hard earned cash, as when using your hard earned cash, an Internet business failure can have devastating financial implications, and be psychologically damaging, certainly as far as Internet business ventures are concerned.

Business failures should be considered an asset – not a pleasant asset, but an opportunity to learn from the failed attempt at making money on the Internet. Business failure that only results in the loss of profits is not that difficult to forget and forgive, and easier to ‘pick yourself up’ and learn from your mistakes and try again, but learn from any mistakes you may know you made.

OK, enough said, back to the business of backlinks and SEO. Search engine ranking factors are some of the most difficult information to access, as the major search engines will not release the important information to anyone, in fact, the search engine ranking information, is some of the most closely guarded secrets in online business today. In addition, search engines especially major search engines, do not exactly publish how they, and what algorithms are used by them to rank websites in search results. One thing can be concluded with certainty that the secret algorithms used to rank websites change regularly, especially with regard to the major search engines.

Fortunately, it is not necessary to understand or figure out the complicated search engine algorithms which major search engines like Google use to rank websites in search engine results pages yourself. There are professional experts, who with expert research knowledge and a lifetime actively creating websites specifically targeting the major search engines, especially of note, Google and Yahoo – as they power the search results of many major search engines, concentrate on, and they are very successful at maintaining websites in the highest ranking positions in both Google and Yahoo search results (SERP).

The SEO techniques used and perfected by these hard working professional experts, again usually is not divulged, even kept secret, and only revealing certain small pieces (titbits) of information which becomes common knowledge on the Internet – but remains incomplete. Without doubt the expert knowledge gained by life long research and practice in search engine optimization techniques is extremely valuable to making money on the Internet and to enjoy the wealth that gaining knowledge through researching and life long expertise can bring.

An extremely important area of search engine optimization techniques which, if following some very simple rules, can easily through hard work, elevate a newly created website into the highest rankings in the major search engines – specifically Google, Yahoo, for a given relevant keywords is Backlinks from other high ranked, popular and more importantly relevant to your keywords, websites which accurately describes your websites products or services.

I am a strong believer that an individual website with high quality backlinks from relevant, popular and higher ranking websites will undoubtedly increase the major search engine rankings incrementally. In general, the more high quality in bound – backlinks, to you website, the higher the website will rank in the major search engines.

As explained previously, every inbound link is a positive ‘vote’ in the popularity stakes for your website. Major search engines concludes that if your website is popular with many back-linked websites, then your websites contents is useful and of extreme interest which can satisfy the needs of many visitors desire of content rich information. This ‘popularity’ factor is responsible for increasing your websites high ranking in the major search engine results pages.

Again, remember, quantity is not the deciding factor here, as is highly publicised on the Internet, is the fact that mass back-linking especially by link farming and using automated software used specifically to increase mass backlinks, is not tolerated by the major search engines, and furthermore, the websites linked from the ‘poor quality’ link farm’ websites and received backlinks by means of automated means, risk being banned by the major search engines with no possibility of appeal or reversing the decision.

Once a website is banned by the major search engines, even if you were able to confirm the ban, the chances of the ban being overturned are close to zero, even non-existent. Steer away from link farms and automated linking software as even is the major search engines are fooled by your tactics, because the links are considered ‘zero value’ the fact that the links are of very poor quality – and possibly irrelevant links relating to your websites keywords, your websites page ranking will be devalued as a result of the low quality or irrelevant backlinks, or even dropped altogether by the search engines – a zero rating in the search result.

So, is a link coming from another website to your website? The number of backlinks and the quality of the backlinks pointing to your website will then have a positive affect on your websites search engine optimization efforts. Google and Yahoo search engines consider quality and especially relevant backlinks to a website extremely important influence on their search engine page rankings.

In search engine optimization (referred to as SEO), creating backlinks is considered by SEO experts an extremely important part of a websites effective Advertising, Marketing and Promoting strategy, although importantly only ever conducted on the completed websites, definitely not on a website which is still under construction or involved in ongoing major updating.

But in reality backlinks is only a part, although an integral part, of effective search engine optimization techniques (SEO). I will not attempt to discuss all of the various parts involved in SEO at this stage, as the ebook is devoted to high quality and relevant backlinks, and to include other important aspects of SEO in this high quality ebook would be a massive task. But watch this space and relevant ebooks will be released on a regular basis.

Online Website Promotion – Top 10 Secrets Revealed

Just setup a website and having a hard time getting thousands of visitors to see your content? Wonder how everyone else is managing to do it? Don’t worry in this article I will reveal to you the top 10 closely guarded secrets that your competitors would kill to keep from you!

Choose The Right Platform

It is important to make sure that you have the right platform to start with, a flash site is not recommended as this will make it hard / impossible to get search engine traffic which should make up the bulk of your free traffic sources. The reason for this is that the search engines can not read the flash files yet so the content inside is not added to their database.

Whether you choose to go with a CMS (Content Management Solution) or a static webpage should depend on your web design skills. If you have the skills to edit the HTML code your self then you can survive with a static page but it would be recommended to go with one of the popular CMS system available for free on the web today.

These include, WordPress, TypePad, Joomla, Drupal and many others. I would personally recommend WordPress as it is the most used and widely supported.

WordPress CMS

When you choose a platform like WordPress to work with you immediately get lots of web promotion benefits included just from the features that come standard. The look and feel of the site is total customizable and adding new content is as easy as using a word processor.

RSS Feeds

These have multiple benefits as they can be used by your visitors to subscriber to and be alerted of updates to the sites content which can result in repeat traffic from returning users coming to see the latest article posted. The second benefit is that you can submit these feeds to RSS Directories which will not only build links (which will help with your search engine optimization) but also traffic to your website

Pinging

It has automated pinging built in, so every time you add new content it will alert the search engines and other websites so they can come have a look and update their information. Remember the search engines can’t send traffic to a web page they don’t know exists yet.

Tags

This allows you to assign tags which are keywords that you feel are relevant to your page even if they don’t appear in the content itself, this can help you rank in the search engines for a relevant keyword that you may not have ranked at all for before, they are also used by a lot of blog search engines and can send traffic in their own right so it is important that you make sure you include them.

User Generated Content (Comments)

If using WordPress comments come as standard you have the option to turn them on or off and even made comments need approval before being posted. But a long story short search engines like fresh content and having a web page with constantly updating content is sure to keep them coming back for more and in turn sending you more free traffic.

Free Methods

1. Search Engine Optimization

You may have got some clues to search engine optimization from the information above, it is basically the skill of getting the search engines like Google, Yahoo And MSN to give you free traffic.

There are two different types of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in my opinion and these are:

On Page Optimization

This includes things that make your website relevant for certain key phrases, making sure your target keywords appear in the main content, in your tags, titles, and in the url will help a lot with your ranking for any of those given keywords

Off Page Optimization

This is mainly about link building, search engines see other sites linking to you like a vote for your site, the more votes (links) the higher your site will rank.

You can get links from all kinds of places as discussed above submitting your RSS feeds to RSS Directories is a good start, you can also look into article directory’s, web directory’s, social bookmarking and a whole load of other stuff. This is a rather simplified version of SEO (search engine optimization) it is a lot more complicated than this but is beyond the scope of this article.

if you want more information about this, I have a rather detailed description in day 2 of my free 5 day e-course, see the bottom of this articles for more details on how to enroll.

2. Article Syndication

This is a very effective method for getting links and traffic. If you use high quality content you will tend to find that the traffic is very targeted and converts very well compared to other traffic. The reason for this is that the prospect has been pre qualified.

They have found your article to be of interest to them and have read the whole thing and when they get to the end and see the link to your site for more information and have clicked it, if at the other end you are offering something else of value that complements that information they are much more likely to buy than if they have just come across your site in the search engine.

The other advantage of using article sites is that they have a very high standing in the search engines already so you are able to rank well for keywords that would take a long time and a lot of work to make your website rank for. But wait this is not all there are more benefits to article marketing:

Web Masters

Will use article sites to look for new content to post to their own site, they are allowed to use articles posted to this site as long as they include your resource box which will include your marking message and website link. So not only will you get a link back to your site that will help with SEO but you will also get traffic from visitors to their site clicking the link to visit yours

eZine Publishers

If you have done a good job of publishing quality content then you can really hit the jackpot with this one. If an ezine (online newsletter) decides to publish your article you can get hundreds even thousands of visitors in under 24 hours .

So what sites should you post your articles to? There are literally hundreds of article directories that you could choose from but the 3 biggest ones are ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com and articlebase.com.

3. Web 2.0 Syndication

There are many web 2.0 sites that allow user generated content that you can syndicate your content across these include sites like, Squidoo, Hub Pages, Wet Paint, Blogger, WordPress.com and many more. These sites rank well in the search engines on their own, but you make them perform even better if you get some links to them.

All these sites mentioned have RSS Feeds, remember the submitting to the RSS Directories trick I mentioned at the beginning well you can do this on these sites no problem, if you want to a more concise list of RSS Directory sites then I have a list on day 2 of my free 5 day e-course you can find more information on how to get this at the end of this article.

The next step would be to get a load of social bookmarking links to these pages. You should be able to get a least 50, you can get even more if you want to find them all, again if you want the list I use its on day 2 of my 5 day e-course. The other interesting strategy you can use here is a link wheel by linking all the web 2.0 pages together.

4. Social Media Marketing

You can also use methods like setting up MySpace pages Facebook Groups and Bebo pages to get traffic. As well as social networking tactics.

5. Classified Ads Sites

There are hundreds of free classified ad sites springing up all over the internet the biggest of these is Craigslist next in line is Backpage and Gumtee is leading in the UK market. This can be a good place to get some free traffic I have a rather extensive guide to posting on Craigslist on day 4 of my free 5 day e-course as this is the hardest one to post to, you will also find a concise list of “Classified Ad” sites you will find details on how to get my e-course at the bottom of this article.

List Building

The most important part of having a successful website is to build a mailing list, so that you can direct subscribers to new content and make offers to affiliate programs and joint ventures to make some extra cash if your doing any kind of paid advertising then this should be directed at building a list. Read on for the paid advertising methods chapter.

Paid Methods

6. Pay Per Click

You can use search engine pay per click services such as Google Adwords, Yahoo and MSN to drive traffic to your website, these services allow you bid on search engine keywords and have your ad appear next to the normal search results in the sponsored section.

These can be a fantastic way to get more traffic to your website but there is another secret trick here, because you can also use it to find out what keywords convert best for your website and once you know this you can optimize your website to for these keywords.

7. Pay Per View

These are services that allow you to buy pop up ads, some of the companies that supply this service are Media Traffic, Traffic Vance, Adon Network, Clicksor, Pin Ball Publishing Network (was called Zango)

8. PRWeb

This site allows you to submit press realises that can get syndicated to media outlets like newspapers and TV stations and magazines, these need to be very professional if your not up to the task of writing it may be an idea to hire a writer for this task, as PRWeb charges a reasonable amount for a submission.

9. eZine Advertising

This involves finding internet newsletters that will allow you to advertise and placing adverts inside them this can be a very responsive and cost effective way to market your website if you have chosen the right ezine. There are different types of adverts you may offered, here are some of them and what they do.

Solo Ad

These cost approximately around $10 per 1000 subscribers and it is a standalone mailing that is dedicated to your offer only. You type out the email and they send it to their list.

Sponsored Ad

This is where you appear at the top of an article that is sent out in the newsletter with your message and link.

Classified Ad

These are usually at the bottom of the newsletter, they have less exposure and are quite cheap to purchase, despite their handy cap, these can sometimes be the best ROI (return on investment) for promoting and opted in page for your own list

10. Co-Registration

These are usually arranged by a 3rd party the basic concept is that person A subscribes to a newsletter on a website belonging to person B the whole thing is organised by Person C (the co-reg network) when person A subscribes they are subscribed to 5 newsletters at one time all on the same topic but slightly different niches of that topic to avoid direct competition.

So person D, E, F, G, H whose newsletters person A subscribed to pay person C a fee for every subscriber this can be between $0.10 – $1 per lead depending on the network and many other factors. Person C then pays person B his commission for getting the subscriber.

This is co-registration its not as responsive as normal opted strategies but the prices are a lot cheaper and it can drive huge volumes of traffic to your website and offers.
