Building backlinks to your website should be the backbone of your web promotion strategy. It is considered to be one of, if not the most, important aspect of increasing your websites visibility on the web by improving search engine listing page rank.
Because of this I have outlined some simple suggestions in order to get going with your linking strategy. There are many ways of obtaining backlinks and it is an easy process, however it can be very monotonous and time consuming. Firstly do a search on a search engine for site that are similar in content to yours. Go through the tops twenty results and contact as many as you can by email to request exchanging links. Creating a Squidoo ‘len’s is always a good idea. Create a page with information about your site and link to it.

If you have more than one website or a blog of your own, then link your new site from them.
Avoid spamming link software. The best way to get links is to do it manually. Much software available for this purpose is considered a spamming technique and again could get you penalised by the search engines. Build your links slowly but steadily and you will see results over time.
